Donn Chappellet and his wife, Molly, founded the estate in 1967 with a clear goal in mind: to produce wines that would rival the First Growths of Bordeaux. Their first commercial Cabernet Sauvignon hit the market in 1969 to incredible success, nabbing a 100-point score from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, and solidifying its status as one of the greatest wines ever made in the Napa Valley.
